“Building up a research ethics system: Experience of a teaching
university”
Dr Kam Cheong Li , Director of Research at the Open University of
Hong Kong, has involved in open education for more than two decades.
He oversees research at the University and has served as a course
developer, strand/programme leader, and course coordinator for
distance-learning programmes. For the Asian Association of Open
Universities, he is currently the Secretary-General. Dr Li has earned
three bachelor’s degrees, four master’s degrees and a PhD. He is a
productive author of over 100 publications, including refereed journal
papers, book chapters, monographs and textbooks. His research interests
lie in open education and pedagogical innovations. [email protected]
Dr Billy Tak-ming Wong, Research Coordinator at the University
Research Centre, the Open University of Hong Kong, has participated in
processing hundreds of research applications, many of them for research
ethical clearance purposes. He has obtained a BA, an MA and a PhD
from the City University of Hong Kong. He has published many journal
papers, book chapters and conference papers in areas of open education
and research capacity development, besides having obtained paper
awards in various academic conferences. His research areas include
open and flexible education, mobile learning, blended learning, open-
educational resources, and academic analytics.
