Eat Slowly & Chew Thoroughly For Health

If you have not been used to eating a large raw
vegetable salad, go slowly! Eat slowly and always chew
thoroughly. Remember that your stomach has no teeth!
You may say to us, “Raw salad fills me with gas” or “Raw
salads do not agree with me.” We can only answer,
“The salads agree with you, but you don’t agree with
them!” When a salad does not agree with you, it shows
that you have sluggish, unhealthy bowels. In that case
there is only one thing to do – gradually change at the
speed that fits your condition, also try Beano. Slowly
you will improve to gracefully accept and enjoy these
nourishing salads. Remember, salads are the master
internal cleansers and “Mother Nature’s Broom”.
People with bad dentures or loose teeth, the sick, even
toddlers who need nutritious salads, but can’t chew well,
it’s best to finely grate or blend their salad – it’s delicious.
Everyone is different and this is why you should keep
a daily journal (page 133 ) recording your food intake and
your reactions for: mucus, headaches, eliminations,
energy levels, mood swings, sleep patterns, etc. Start today!
5. What to eat after your salad if more is desired? Best would
be soup or lightly steamed veggies, greens, carrots, peas,
stringbeans, corn, carrots, beets, broccoli or any
vegetables desired and a baked potato or whole grain
pasta, or lentils and brown rice, tofu, etc. (recipe page 115 ).
6. Now what about protein? If you feel you must eat meat, do
so. Just remember, on this diet you don’t eat meat more than
1 - 2 times a week. You can always have the delicious vegetable
proteins such as tofu, brown rice, beans, lentils, raw nuts and
seeds, etc. (see page 17 ). If you have bad teeth, the raw nuts
might be better ground or taken in the form of nut butters –
same with raw seeds like sunflower, pumpkin, flax and
sesame (delicious sprinkled over salads, veggies, soups, etc.). Buy a
$ 20 coffee grinder to grind raw nuts and seeds, add flax, etc.
Many times we make a big raw salad for lunch and
we finish off with a few pieces of dried fruits such as
sun-dried apricots, dates, raisins, figs and some raw nuts.
