Mycophenolate (CellCept)
Mycophenolate ismetabolized tomycophenolic acid. It isused to suppressimmunity fortransplantation and fortreatment ofimmune-mediateddiseases.
In dogs, gastrointestinalproblems (diarrhea,vomiting) have been themost common effectsreported. Use in veterinarymedicine has been rare.
Mycophenolate is used insome patients that cannottolerate otherimmunosuppressive drugssuch as azathioprine orcyclophosphamide.
250 mg capsule.
Dog: 10 mg/kg q8h po.Cat: no dose established.
Naloxone (Narcan)
Opiate antagonist. Usedto reverse effects fromopiate agonists (such asmorphine). Naloxone maybe used to reversesedation, anesthesia, andadverse effects caused byopiates.
Adverse effects are notreported. Tachycardia andhypertension have beenreported in people.
Administration may haveto be individualized basedon response in eachpatient. Naloxone’sduration of action is shortin animals (60 min) andmay have to be repeated.

Naltrexone (Trexan)
Opiate antagonist. Similarto naloxone, except that itis longer acting andadministered orally. Usedin people for treatment ofopiate dependence. Inanimals, it has been usedfor treatment of someobsessive-compulsivebehavioral disorders.
Adverse effects have notbeen reported in animals.
Treatment forobsessive-compulsivedisorders in animals hasbeen reported withnaltrexone. Relapse ratesmay be high.
50 mg tablets.
Dog: for behaviorproblems: 2.2 mg/kg q12hpo.
