To The ReScue
I
t is 2 am. There are just two
people walking in the pitch
dark through the empty plots
in Kondhwa. The next day, at 2
pm in the glaring heat, animal
welfare volunteers trudge through
the same area. Their search is for
a dog seen with a jar stuck on his
head running around that area.
Among the humans, there is
one who can’t eat or sleep till the
dog is free. That’s Ajay Patel,
animal welfare volunteer, who has
developed a speciality in catching
dogs who have their heads stuck
inside jars (jar dogs - as volunteers
call them).
Though it may look simple, it
is not an easy task. For one, the
dog is extremely scared, upset,
See a poor dog
with his head
stuck in a jar?
Waste no time,
call Pune’s
Aj Ay P ATE l
who spends
hours tracking
and rescuing
them. He tells
us why dogs get
stuck in jars and
why he spends
hours rescuing
them
