n his subsequent matchday
programme notes (for the
West Brom game at Anfield)
the manager wrote: “I would like
to say what a privilege it is to
take the players to this amazing
place. The bravery of the children
humbles and inspires us. The
resilience of the parents and
family is the definition of love in
its purest form. And the amazing
staff – not just the incredible
doctors and nurses but all of the
staff – are people that the city of
Liverpool is rightly very proud of.”
Hendo also made a point of
mentioning Alder Hey in his
own programme notes for the
Merseyside derby: “Visiting the
hospital is a privilege for us...a
time when those of us who are
extremely fortunate in our lives
can offer some support and
hopefully a little relief to kids and
families having a difficult time.
